Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], August 14 (ANI): Punjab Governor and UT Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria reviewed central development projects and public welfare schemes with senior IAS officers of Punjab at Punjab Raj Bhawan on Tuesday.
During a formal introductory session with the officers, the governor emphasised his role as a bridge between the Centre and the State in promoting Punjab’s development.
He highlighted the importance of collective effort to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach their intended beneficiaries and pledged his full support to this cause. The governor also mentioned that periodic review meetings on central development projects and public welfare schemes would be held.
Governor Kataria stated, “For the proper implementation of public welfare schemes and to ensure that central development projects reach the grassroots level, it is crucial to work in close coordination with State Government functionaries.”
The governor urged the officers to ensure that the public does not encounter unnecessary difficulties in government offices. He advised that IAS officers and their subordinate staff allocate specific times for public dealings on working days.
Additionally, Gulab Chand Kataria encouraged state officers to maintain regular contact with relevant central officials to secure approvals for development proposals submitted by the state. He assured that if any project faces obstacles at any level, he is ready to provide full support and assistance.
The newly sworn-in Punjab Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria, reiterated his commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities of his office with dedication.
“The President has entrusted me with the responsibility of Punjab, and I will make every effort to serve as a good public servant. These positions are not merely ceremonial; they are meant for serving the people,” Kataria told reporters on July 31 after being sworn in as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh.
