Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi initiates awareness campaign of EVM, VVPAT for Assembly election – World News Network

New Delhi [India], October 23 (ANI): The Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, P Krishnamurthy, initiated an awareness campaign of EVM & VVPAT for the Delhi Assembly Election, 2025. The initiative has been in progress since October 15, 2024, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said.
Under this, the CEO Delhi explained that the awareness programme on EVMs and VVPATs is organised ahead of every General Election to Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly Election focusing on imparting knowledge about the basic features of EVMs and VVPATs, elucidating the step-by-step procedure of casting votes and educating voters on how to verify their choices through the VVPAT.
The awareness campaign for ensuring Delhi Legislative Assembly Election, 2025 is underway in all 11 Districts of NCT of Delhi w.e.f. October 15 to provide citizens with a first-hand experience of the voting process and familiarity with the machines.
Furthering the campaign, the CEO Delhi also mentioned that a total number of 22 Demonstration Centers (EDC) have been set up in all 11 Districts, NCT of Delhi @ two EDCs per district (one at DEO level and one at Returning officer/Revenue Sub-Division Offices) for awareness of General Public regarding how to cast their vote using EVM & VVPAT.
CEO Delhi also emphasised that a total number of 70 Mobile Vans (MDV) have also been deployed (one in each Assembly Constituency) for awareness covering all polling station locations at least once during the awareness campaign.
Krishnamurthy also explained that all District Election Officers, NCT of Delhi have also been directed that prominent places like Malls, Metro Stations, etc. with high footfall also to be covered to a possible extent during the campaign.
Lastly, the CEO Delhi also appealed to the General Public/Voters of Delhi to make use of this opportunity and to make themselves aware of the voting process by EVMs & VVPATs as this will also save their time on the polling day. (ANI)
